WhatsApp brings Live Location Sharing for iOS and Android smartphones

WhatsApp is now rolling out a new live location sharing feature on both Android and iOS platforms today. You can choose to share your real-time location for 15 minutes, 1 hour or 8 hours with your friends and family in chat message with a single person or a group.


This is really a great feature for people who always dislike giving directions over phone and have always relied on WhatsApp location sharing feature. This new update makes location sharing even more seamless.

The Live Location Sharing feature will be rolled out in phases in the coming weeks to users on iOS and Android.

Also, WhatsApp claims the data is encrypted from end to end and hence you do not have to worry about your privacy. WhatsApp which is owned by Facebook is by far the most popular mobile messaging app with over a billion users and we see this feature becoming popular very soon.

Such a feature could be a big win for law enforcement agencies worldwide to track down individuals who are in trouble.

Women will surely appreciate this feature as crimes against women drove the government to mandate a panic button on smartphones in India to ensure women safety.
